Home Tour

Here is my floor plan and some before-and-after photos of my little 1380 sq. ft. townhouse condominium. We remodeled the ENTIRE thing on a $5000 budget in 2011-2012 (including flooring throughout and a new water heater). We sold the home in August of 2012. We weren't exactly "done" with it at that point. (I'm looking at you, master bedroom curtains!)

Photos of my current house will be forthcoming, but they are all "befores" at this point.

Main Floor, 690 sq. ft.

Upstairs, 690 sq. ft. - I later rearranged the furniture in my room and the nursery.

Living/Dining Before (note the wall we removed and the old fireplace niche and mantel situation)

Living/Dining After - New floors, paint, lighting, fireplace niche, mantel, and wall removed.

Living Room After - Nope, I never got any window treatments up!

Dining Room After - Just imagine a different, fabulous light fixture and some art, okay?
Kitchen Before - Yep, that's electrician's tape holding the laminate island together. Klassy.

Kitchen After - Continued new flooring, removed upper cabinets on both sides of the sink, replaced with open shelves on one side, raised cabinets to ceiling, added crown moulding, added open shelf below cabinets, painted cabinets, added hardward, installed microwave, moved island, replaced island top with larger butcher block top. Intended to do, but did not have a chance to add window treatment, replace faucet, replace fluorescent light, possibly replace rest of countertop, add backsplash.

Laundry Room Before

Laundry Room After - Painted, tiled ($1 peel and stick vinyl tiles, grouted), painted, added leftover cabinets from kitchen. Still wanted to paint the cabinets, change the light fixture, and add accessories.

This is just a gratuitous shot of the vintage Spanish brass chandelier I bought for my baby's nursery. It was very hard for me to leave it behind! Our house had several of those weird, useless nooks above the closets.

Nursery Before

Nursery After - This room is 7' x 9' - TINY!

Boys' Room Before - You can't see it, but the right side wall was painted BRIGHT orange.

Boys' Room After - No, that glowing orb isn't Glinda the Good Witch descending to earth., It's a huge paper lantern from Ikea. Best $5 light fixture ever.
Hall Bath Before

Hall Bath After - This is the last room we finished (didn't finish). Still wanted to do something with the cabinets and the mirror.

Landing Before

Landing After - Here's where we replaced one bad builder basic light fixture with another :-). Another weird nook, and the bane of my existence: the triangular linen closet. I had to take flag-folding lessons from the Boy Scouts to fit my towels in there.
Master Bedroom Before
Master Bedroom Before Before (Yep, it's an "open concept", see post here.)

Master Bedroom After - Just pretend those curtains are grazing the floor. Or that there are different curtains altogether. And that I have a headboard.

Master Bathroom Before

Master Vanity Before

Master Vanity After - There was still a lot more we wanted to do, but at least we got that carpet out! And yes, I *always* keep my hand towels rolled like that! (Haha, these were the pics I took for our MLS listing.)

Master Bathroom After with the privacy screen. I had devised a way I wanted to close off the bathroom without building a wall, but we didn't end up doing it before we sold.
Backyard Before

Backyard After(?) - Still looks like a before.
Stay tuned for a tour of our new house. As soon as we thaw out. This picture is from January 2013, in the middle of a record storm that dropped 24" of snow on our massive driveway.
